The role

As a member within the Marketing team, reporting into the Head of SEO, the SEO Specialist will:

  • Work with the Head of SEO and SEO Manager to test strategies across different pages to see if they result in ranking improvements.
  • Use their technical skills and a range of tools and systems to analyse websites including mark-up, page structures, internal linking, content and more to spot opportunities and develop our technical roadmap alongside the rest of the SEO team.
  • Manage the footprint of our sites, from improving internal linking, spotting missed opportunities, retiring old content, publishing sitemaps, prioritising valuable and removing wasteful content as needed.
  • Ensure the code behind our websites is readable and usable for search engines.
  • Find ways to make use of AI technologies to scale content workflows.
  • Build content plans to include different types of content including commercial and editorial, depending on the stage of the marketing funnel that we aim to reach our customers.
  • Liaise with digital PR to ensure campaigns (especially hero campaigns) align with our goals for content.
  • Analyse data and identify gaps within our content based on competitor and user behaviour data.
  • Analyse data to understand gaps within our backlink profiles and how we can look to fill these with Digital PR campaigns.
  • Propose new content ideas to test, working to ensure constant growth of organic traffic across the group.
  • Build new pages and test page structures within different CMS platforms based on the content being written.
  • Identify new opportunities to acquire links.
  • Work with our network of Digital PR freelancers copywriters to deliver and execute content and Digital PR workflows.

The person

We’re looking for somebody with a passion for consumer start-ups and data driven digital marketing with:

  • 2+ years of working directly in an SEO role for a travel or large e-commerce website.
  • An ability to analyse data, with an attention to detail to spot SEO opportunities across tech, Digital PR, and content.
  • An ability to turn technical SEO requirements into briefs for developers.
  • A basic understanding of HTML / CSS and JavaScript to be able to understand a page's technical mark-up.
  • An understanding of technical SEO fundamentals - sitemaps, robot.txt files, canonical tags, redirect management, and the importance of HTTPS.
  • An ability to turn content and Digital PR requirements into briefs for creatives.
  • The desire to work hard to make a difference to a rapidly growing, exciting business.
  • A can-do attitude and the ability to communicate clearly and collaborate as part of a small startup team.
  • A drive and desire to get stuck in and be self-starting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to work in person, from our office on the Southbank in London, on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
